Route Descriptions

100 mile |  62 mile |  36 mile |  10 mile

This year's Elk River 100 has some changes for the 62 and 100 mi routes we think you'll really enjoy. The 62 swings a little wider out into Bedford County before heading into Petersburg on the beautiful Liberty Valley Rd. The 100 mi route shares much of the same course with the 62 until allowing 100 mi riders to ride with their 62 mi friends for over 34 miles. The 100 mi course has nearly been revamped in its entirety winding around in Lincoln County 40 mi then visiting historic Lynchburg over the same roads as the other riders.

As usual we'll begin and end at Motlow State Community College. The difficulty rating of these routes, especially the 100 mi, should be considered to be intermediate to advanced. However, the rest stops at approximate 15–20 mi intervals give you plenty of opportunity to recover. :)

A separate 10 mi route is provided at no charge, for bicycling newcomers. Of course dinner and commemorative items are not included with the free 10 mi route but may be available for purchase on a first come first served basis.

The Motlow State Community College venue has extensive parking capabilities as well as fantastic shower/locker facilities.

As a special feature all routes, with the exception of the 10 mi, visit the historic town of Lynchburg. Lynchburg is a picturesque little town home to Jack Daniel Distillery, the oldest registered distillery in the US.
