All routes have been altered in 2015 to remove around 200 feet of climbing and avoid Tanyard Hill, the grueling climb out of Lynchburg, after assessing rider feedback from previous years. The 20 mile guided route is the only one that remains the same. The century is still a stunningly beautiful route filled with plenty of challenging climbs; the newly edited routes just save riders from an end-of-day climb up Tanyard Hill
As usual we’ll begin and end at Motlow College. The difficulty rating of these routes, especially the 100 mile route, should be considered to be intermediate to advanced. However, the rest stops at approximate 15–20 mile intervals gives you plenty of opportunity to recover.
If you’re new to group riding or maybe this is your first big cycling event, our 20 mile guided route is perfect for you. One of our experienced club members will personally lead you and others over a flat 20 mile course. Every 5 to 8 miles you’ll be able to stop where additional water and food will be available.
The Motlow College venue has extensive parking capacity as well as fantastic shower/locker facilities.
Come early and visit the nearby, historic town of Lynchburg. Lynchburg is a picturesque little town home to Jack Daniel Distillery, the oldest registered distillery in the US. Get here early enough and you might be able to take in a FREE walking tour of the complex.
